Explanation in brief of Mental Challenges faced by Children and Teenagers

  • Mood Disorders

    These disorders involve persistent feelings of sadness and/or rapidly changing moods, and include depression and bipolar disorder.

    A Child with Mood Disorders faces chronic or persistent irritability and frequent angry outbursts.

  • Anxiety

    Children with anxiety disorders respond to certain things or situations with fear and dread, as well as with physical signs of anxiety (nervousness), such as a rapid heartbeat and sweating.

  • Eating disorders

    Eating disorders involve intense emotions and attitudes, as well as unusual behaviours associated with weight and/or food

  • Learning and communication disorders

    Children with these disorders have problems in storing and processing information, as well as relating their thoughts and ideas.

  • Disruptive behaviour disorders

    Children with these disorders tend to defy rules and often are disruptive in structured environments, such as school.

  • Tic disorders

    These disorders cause a person to perform repeated, sudden, involuntary (not done on purpose), and often meaningless movements and sounds, called tics.

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

    Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a type of anxiety disorder. Obsessions are recurring thoughts. Compulsions are recurring behaviours. A child with OCD has obsessive thoughts that are not wanted. They are linked to fears, such as touching dirty objects. He or she uses compulsive rituals to control the fears, such as excessive handwashing.

    Children do these behaviours because they have the feeling that the behaviours will prevent bad things from happening or will make them feel better.

  • Device Addiction

    Almost every parent stress about how many hours their kids log on their tablet, smartphone or TV each day.

    Post-pandemic situation of TV, Mobile Phones, Tablet, Laptop Screen Addiction has been increased drastically. Spending too much time in front of a screen has been linked to a lack of sleep, speech delays and poor social skills. This is also called “Unsuccessful Control”.

    It preoccupies thoughts of Children: If, even when your kid isn’t playing video games, he’s talking about Minecraft, wondering what his favorite YouTuber will post next, or acting out scenes from Angry Birds, this could be a sign of addiction.

  • Bullying at Social Places or Online Platforms

    A bully intends to cause pain, either through physical harm or hurtful words or behaviour, and does so repeatedly. Boys are more likely to experience physical bullying, while girls are more likely to experience psychological bullying.

    Bullying happens when one child has a physical or social advantage over another, and they use that advantage to act aggressively toward the other.

    Bullying can be repeated over periods of time, resulting in physical, psychological, social or educational harm.

    Effects of Bullying on Children who is victim:

Individual or group sessions for parents that include training and the opportunity to talk with other parents can provide new strategies for supporting a child and managing difficult behaviour in a positive way. We also coach parents on how to communicate and work with schools on accommodations.
